“The Valley on the Other Side”,
The Valley
On The
Other Side
School. What can we do to make you excited? the teachers ask, with their nice glasses and mugs of coffee or tea or whatever. There’s really nothing much, I think to myself. At least, not that they could give me.
The valley on the other side truly excites me. It tantalises me with its endless possibilities. I can bask in the sunlight, or lounge under a tree, or play with the cats. I could chart and explore lands that no man has ever seen before. Everything the light touches would be mine. Only a dream away, it taunts. Only a dream, a dream which you can see, and smell, and taste, and hear, with the wind blowing beneath you and lifting you up to new heights, but which you can never truly touch.
Because instead I have school, where homework deadlines and school spirit competitions rule like tyrants.
