“On English-language internationalism”,

I think the expectation that non-English speakers learn it is unfair, mainly because it’s a wildly inconsistent language (with tough and rough challenges through and through) and because of the attitude Americans and British (English) people can develop internationally. A Georgian who doesn’t speak at least two other languages (Turkish for proximity, and English) is functionally impoverished while a monolingual English speaker faces no such challenge. ♦
