“On endings”,

2026 March 20, 17:23

As I start writing it’s 17:18; Episode 8 of The Amazing Digital Circus will premiere on YouTube in about 44 minutes. The actual time is 18:00, but there’s always a 3-minute countdown or so that starts at that time.

It’s a great indie webseries and it only has 9 episodes. Gooseworx and others say that it’s a gift that creators can end their shows when they want but I can’t lie, it deserved an episode of filler.

I’ll assume that this is one of the most pivotal episodes in the series, mostly because of its length (31 minutes and 50 seconds) and because of how the cast and crew have talked about it; Caine’s voice actor (Alex Rochon) called it “self-indulgent” or something like that, I half-remember it, and I’m not sorry. I just can’t believe the ending is coming so soon when it feels like we’ve barely even started. I joined the fandom around the time Episode 4 released in December 2024 and ever since then have watched each episode in English and French. I don’t know how I’ll feel when the show’s over. I’ve always wanted to do an animation to a song for it, mainly because

a. There have really only been animatics on YouTube; and

b. The animatics/animations to songs have mainly been White or otherwise non-Black music.

But it wouldn’t hit the same if the show’s over by the time I do it.

I’ll be honest…the show’s really affected me. In a good way. It’s just so cool. The animation is great and so is the characterisation and the writing and the character design and ugh it’s just amazing. It made me into a voice actor when I started my YouTube channel and released a comic dub shortly after Episode 5 released in June 2025; it sits around 205,000 views now. Hopefully someday I’ll be able to actually tell her, thank her maybe, give her a high-five. That’d be perfect. ♦
