“On Amazon reviews”,

I just read this review which is probably the most disappointed Amazon review I’ve ever seen:

Title: Is quality assurance obsolete?

Text:

Unfortunately an air of smuggness [sic] and superiority abounds amongst large corporations bent on milking profits from unwitting peasants in a society forced to accept mediocraty [sic] as effort. In a day when the local bookstore has been forced to shutter its doors; I find myself repeating the words of my elders, “no one cares about craftsmanship anymore.” I wonder how many hands this “book” passed through and who determined that this collection of written pages was indeed glued together bound or bonded. My hope is zero. Zero hands touched this collection of written pages because only an uncaring and emotionless robot would consider this a completion of steady craftsmanship and attention to detail worthy of their signature. Apparently quality assurance and dedication to craft is now considered antiquated and unnecessary to the point that not even a book can be completed properly. The future doesn’t have flying cars; however, everyone is so smart that we can’t even make a book anymore.

They attached pictures too; it looked like the pages of the book (Penguin Classics’ version of The Complete Essays by Montaigne) fell out. I guess people need to write in a sense of eloquence when pertaining to anything about Montaigne, which is fair and too dignified once you realise what he’s remembered for. ♦
