no cheddar
no cheddar, my twenty-first chapbook, was written on 2026 March 21; it is 17 pages, excluding the front cover.
I intended it to be a satire of commercialism and how thoroughly certain companies have implanted themselves into our personal lives; to do this, I invented the brand “Million-Man Ranch Cheese” and proceeded to insert their advertisements into increasingly more ridiculous and personal situations such as traffic jams, sex, gym workouts, and a rap song. Due to most of the satire having high potential to be misinterpreted negatively, I have not yet published it here.
The tenth and final piece, “The Maestro or the Machine”, was directly inspired by Malcolm X’s 1964 speech “The Ballot or the Bullet”; I used the tone to make a sort of juxtaposition between the seriousness of the presentation and the sort-of insignificance of the subject matter, i.e. how Million-Man Ranch Cheese is actually an evil company.
